Welcome to the Liverpool ECHO’s Tuesday live blog for your latest Liverpool news, rumours and transfer gossip.
There has been an update on Kylian Mbappe’s Paris Saint-Germain future, plus there are also claims about Saul Niguez and Mikkel Damsgaard.
United ‘enter Saul race’
Chelsea now reportedly face competition for Saul Niguez from Manchester United.
That’s according to the Guardian, who are reporting that Atletico Madrid are prepared to let Saul leave on a season-long loan before the transfer window shuts next Tuesday.
The report goes on to claim that Chelsea could step up their interest if Thomas Tuchel decides that he needs more depth in central midfield and sources in Spain have not ruled out United trying to sign the 26-year-old.
Conor Bradley named in Northern Ireland squad
Another proud milestone for the Reds youngster.
Damsgaard ‘scouted by Liverpool’
Liverpool scouts were reportedly spotted watching Mikkel Damsgaard in action during Sampdoria’s match against AC Milan on Monday night.
Damsgaard shot to stardom at Euro 2020 with Denmark leading to links with a move to the Premier League.
The report goes on to claim that the Reds are waiting for their rivals like Spurs to make a move, ‘before attempting the decisive assault on the player’.
Four ‘more players could depart’ after Shaqiri exit
After sanctioning a move for Xherdan Shaqiri, Liverpool are ready to consider offers for other first-team squad members, according to a report by The Athletic.
The Switzerland star has freed up extra space in the squad and there could be others heading for the exit doors should the right offer arrive.
Divock Origi has long been linked with a departure and the Reds will ‘weigh up’ their options should they receive any offers for the Belgian.
While according to the report, Nat Phillips, Loris Karius and Sheyi Ojo could also all be sold this summer.

Van Dijk backed to come out on top against Lukaku
Jamie Carragher believes that Virigl van Dijk will be able to cope with Romelu Lukaku when Liverpool meet Chelsea on Saturday evening.
Chelsea re-signed striker Lukaku from Inter Milan earlier this month and he impressed on his return to the Premier League during his new side’s win over Arsenal on Sunday.
But, Carragher speaking on Monday Night Football, has backed the Reds defender to come out on top this weekend.
“Liverpool are not going to change for Chelsea. Liverpool have got a defender who can cope with anybody one against one.
“He is the one player in the Premier League who will fancy his chances against Lukaku.”
Chelsea ‘eye Saul loan move’
Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a late loan move for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez.
According to a report by The Telegraph, Chelsea are weighing up whether to make a move as they wait to see if they receive any offers for their fringe midfielders.
The Reds are being frequently linked with plenty of potential new midfielders at the moment, with the Atletico man just one of them.
Reports earlier in the summer had claimed that Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona are the clubs chasing Saul’s signature, but neither of those clubs are yet to make a move.
Mbappe could leave PSG this week as ‘one English club in contact’
Kylian Mbappe’s future at Paris Saint-Germain could be decided over the next week.
The France international continues to be linked with a move away from PSG, with Liverpool the main club from England tentatively credited with an interest.
Real Madrid are the other club who are said to have a long-standing interest in Mbappe, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.
PSG are desperate to keep hold of the 22-year-old, and a report from France has outlined the contract offer that the Ligue 1 club have put to the forward.
According to RMC Sport, PSG have offered a five-year deal to Mbappe, which would also include the option of an extra year.
